History: In the fall 1979, representatives from the CLSC gave support to the regroup volunteers to fill local needs. Four groups were born: Weedon, Lingwick, St-Gerard and Bishopton. The Center was formed on June 8 1981 under
the name of "Volunteering
at home".
Gradually, the Center formed more groups in the MRC. They offered services for the maintenance of residences or the Community sector. The definition of volunteer work at home changed in 1987 to become "The Volunteer Center of the Haut-Saint-François" In 2001, the Center celebrated its 20th anniversary. This anniversary coincided with The International Year of Volunteering. Thanks to the volunteers the work of the center continues to progress. The aging population requires an increase in assistance. The Center makes a point of paying tribute to the volunteers and all those who support the well being of the local people.
